Traditional Stick-Built Residential Framing
Quality First Construction is known for post frame buildings and barndominiums, but traditional stick-built framing is just as much a part of what we do — and a large share of our work. We frame new homes, additions, garages, and remodels across the Flathead Valley. If you’re building a conventional stick-built house and need a framing crew that shows up, builds square, and stands behind the work, we’re a locally owned, Christian-run general contractor based in Bigfork, building here since 2015.
Post Frame or Stick-Built — We Build Both
Some builders only do one. We don’t make you choose a method to fit our crew — we build the method that fits your project. Post frame is hard to beat for shops, barns, and many barndominiums. But for a lot of traditional homes, additions, and tight in-town lots, conventional stick framing is the right call. We’ll give you a straight answer about which approach makes sense for your build, your site, and your budget — not a sales pitch for whichever one is easier for us.
Residential Framing Services We Offer
Whatever you’re building, the frame is the bones of it. We handle:
- New home framing — full stick-built residential structures from sill plate to roof
- Room additions — tying new framed space into an existing home cleanly and to code
- Garages — attached and detached stick-built garages and shops
- Remodels and renovations — structural framing changes, wall removals, and reframing
- Decks and covered structures — framed outdoor living spaces built for Montana weather
- Rough framing for GCs — reliable framing labor for other contractors who need a dependable crew
Why Build Stick-Built
Traditional stick framing has been the standard for residential construction for good reason. For many Flathead Valley homes it offers:
- Design flexibility — complex rooflines, multi-story layouts, and custom architectural details are straightforward to frame
- Familiar financing and appraisal — lenders and appraisers know stick-built construction inside and out
- Easy integration — plumbing, electrical, and HVAC route through standard stud cavities
- Proven performance — a well-framed stick-built home, properly insulated, handles Montana winters for generations
- Resale familiarity — buyers and inspectors know exactly what they’re looking at
Built Square, Built to Code, Built for Montana
Good framing is the difference between a house that feels solid for fifty years and one that creaks, sags, and gives the finish trades fits. We frame to plan, keep walls plumb and floors level, and build for Flathead County snow loads and wind exposure. The drywall, cabinet, and trim crews that come after us notice the difference — and so will you.

Do you only build post frame, or do you frame traditional stick-built homes too?
Both. Traditional stick-built residential framing is a significant part of our work alongside post frame and barndominiums. We’ll help you decide which method fits your project best.
Will you frame a house from my architect’s or designer’s plans?
Yes. Bring us your plans and we’ll quote the framing from them. If you don’t have plans finalized yet, we can talk through your project and point you in the right direction.
Do you do framing labor for other general contractors?
Yes. We take on rough framing for other GCs and builders who need a dependable, local framing crew. Reach out with your project and schedule.
Is stick-built more expensive than post frame?
It depends on the building. For shops and barns, post frame is usually more cost-effective. For many traditional homes and additions, stick framing is the right fit. We’ll give you honest numbers on both where it makes sense so you can compare.
Do you handle additions and remodels, or only new construction?
Both. We frame new homes as well as additions, garages, and structural remodels — including tying new framed space into an existing structure to code.
